Product Design Checker

It is the purpose of this position is to check and verify the design of process equipment according to the type and size specified by Process Engineering, consistent with GasTech product standards, and including all client specific design requirements. This checks and verifies solid models, detailed designs, manufacturing drawings and bills of material, against all project-relevant design documentation in support of performing the client contract. The responsibility of the position is to ensure designs are complete, accurate, and understandable, while meeting schedule and cost targets.


The responsibilities of this position includes, but are not limited to, the following:

Description of Responsibility

  • Check designs against requirements in the RFQ/Client Specs
  • Verify solid models, parts & assemblies of products and ancillary equipment
  • Verify detail drawings of all product models for manufacturing
  • Able to check all piping and skid assembly prints to ANSI Codes
  • Check all welding and assembly processes for manufacturability
  • Verify designs of all structural skids, vessel parts and internals
  • Performs tolerance analysis to ensure manufacturability
  • Knowledgeable of ASME, ANSI, AWS and OSHA Codes
  • Able to understand and verify information on electrical drawings, piping ISOs, P&ID’s
  • Knowledgeable of proper valves, instruments & controls
  • Able to use drawing vaults and version controls
  • Checks documentation for O&M Manuals
  • Communicates with all organization levels, clients & suppliers
  • Ensures detail and accuracy in all work products
  • Assist in resolving manufacturability issues


This position demands excellent technical proficiency with Mechanical Design using Solid modeling software and technical tools, as well as skill with Microsoft Office. Works with little supervision and has the ability to deliver assignments to meet due dates. Very detail oriented and able to thoroughly check and verify design quality. Must effectively identify and communicate design errors/options to designers. The position requires an Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience in an engineering or design role, with a minimum of 5 years energy industry design experience; 3 years of which must be in oil & gas process equipment. SolidWorks 3D, AutoCAD 3d, or CadWorx piping versions 2014 or later experience is preferable. Manufacturing experience is highly desirable. Design checking experience is mandatory. Experience in an ISO 9000 environment is suggested.
